    Nope, I live in New Zealand and we’re really strict.

    If you’ve had a custodial sentence of more than 12 months within the last 10 years, you won’t pass the NZ character requirements. They are detailed in Section 7(1) of the Immigration Act and immigration officials have no discretionary powers relating to the requirements. You will be most unlikely to be able to find any way around the problem.
